Our Mission
The Geec (Galway Energy Efficient Car) is a student-led initiative at the University of Galway dedicated to designing, building, and racing an energy-efficient vehicle.
Our mission is threefold: to provide hands-on engineering experience for students, to push the boundaries of sustainable vehicle technology, and to represent the University of Galway at international competitions.
We believe that the engineers of tomorrow should be equipped not just with theoretical knowledge, but with practical skills gained through real-world projects that matter.

Our Story
The Geec project began in 2014 with a clear goal: to give engineering students the opportunity to apply classroom theory to the design and construction of an energy-efficient vehicle, specifically for the Shell Eco-marathon competition.
What started as a small group of passionate students has grown into a well-organised, multidisciplinary team working towards a common objective. Each year, we welcome new members, pass on technical knowledge, and continue to improve both the vehicle and our race strategy.
Our journey has involved countless hours in the lab, iterative design and testing, moments of innovation and the excitement of competition. Along the way, we have built not just a car, but a community of future engineers committed to sustainable technology.
