the Geec is powered by a passionate group of engineering students from the University of Galway.
Team Structure
The Geec operates as a structured, multidisciplinary student team, with clearly defined technical and organisational roles all working together.

The project is led by a Team Lead, responsible for overall coordination, planning, and strategic direction, supported by a multiple Project Leads who oversees engineering decisions and integration across all technical disciplines. The core engineering team is made up of students from first to fifth year specialising in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, electronic and computer engineering and energy systems engineering, covering all aspects of vehicle design, construction, control, and performance optimisation.
Alongside the technical work, a dedicated operations and support team plays a critical role behind the scenes. This includes sponsorship and industry engagement, finance and budgeting, marketing and outreach, logistics and event coordination and health and safety management. These roles ensure the project is financially sustainable, well-organised and compliant with competition and university requirements.
Together, this structure allows the Geec to function not only as an engineering project, but as a professional, student-run organisation that prepares members for real-world engineering, teamwork and project management.
